HMHS - What To Expect When School Reopens
GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF HEALTH AND SAFETY FOR OPENING SCHOOLS

Education for students, staff, and community on self-assessing for symptoms of COVID-19.
Healthy practices: hand washing, social distancing, wearing masks/face coverings.
Consistent student groups when feasible.
Fewer transitions during school day.
Additional cleaning/sanitization practices during the school day.
Full time school nurse in building with utilization of an isolation room for those who exhibit possible symptoms.
Use of outdoor spaces when feasible, open windows with box fans for extra ventilation when weather allows.

TRANSPORTATION
Busing
Students will continue to be transported to school on buses as necessary.
Students must wear a face covering while boarding and riding the school bus to and from school.
Buses will be disinfected between runs
Bus routes may look different from previous years
Bus routes and estimated times will be provided when plans are finalized prior to the start of the school year
Students who do not comply with the safety requirements expected during bus transportation will lose bus privileges and transportation will become the responsibility of parents

Pick up and drop off locations of students from each bus at school will be determined when a more consistent number of students riding the buses is known.

We encourage parents/guardians to transport their child to and from school, when feasible for their family.
Specific information regarding your child’s drop off and pick up time and location will be provided prior to the start of school.
Parents are welcome to drop their students off or pick them up. The school day begins at 8:09 a.m. and ends at 1:30 p.m.
If possible, students should not arrive at school before 7:50 am.

Students in Grade12 with senior privileges will still be allowed to leave campus for lunch.
Delivery of food from outside will not be permitted. Bagged lunches from home are still permitted.

Dismissal
Students who have their own transportation or are being picked up will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m.

Students being bussed will remain in their classroom until their bus is called by the main office.
